The cable does what it's supposed to do ; that is, links to desktop and/or laptop computer - but you do have to download the drivers from the Pantech website before you can download files from phone to computer or vice versus. It also recharges the battery, so for all the idiots out there that complain "this cable is just a power cable" - try downloading drivers if you want to do more than just recharge the battery in your phone. Yes, I read reviews before making my purchase ; thought it was pretty funny that some folks think just by hooking the cable up to the phone and a computer without installing drivers, it would do more than charge the battery.
The Pantech software is SWEET too, really nice layout ; multi-function to boot.
The cable works great. It is impossible for a UBS cable to work for charging but not for data transfer. You just need to download the correct software for your phone from the Pantech website. Once I installed the software (which includes the drivers for my phone) I was able to tranfer files to my phone and give myself some new ringtones.
